Illinois Geography
by Greta, Jack, and Charlie

The Central Plains cover 90% of Illinois. Many rivers run through and border Illinois. Prairies are drained by more than 275 rivers a yar, which flow through the Mississippi-Ohio River system.

The five biggest cities in Illinois are Chicago, Aurora, Rockford, Naperville and Springfield.

Illinois has a lot of interesting geography facts like Illinois does not have many hills. Because of this, the state nickname of Illinois is "The Prairie State."

CHICAGO’S NORTH SHORE

by Will H.

Chicago’s north shore is made up of the following towns: Lincolnwood, Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Highwood, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Waukegan and Zion.

These towns are cool because they all have beaches on the only great lake in Illinois, Lake Michigan.  Lake Michigan is one of the famous great lakes located in the United States. Plus the north shore has one of the most famous cities in the U.S. - Chicago.

Mapping Interesting Places
by Reese

Hey, do you want to know about five really cool, interesting places in Illinois? I bet you do!

If you listen up, one you hear it, you'll believe me. Before you look below on the map I want you to know a little bit about it.

The first place I did was the capital of Illinois, Springfield. Did you know that on March 12, 2006, and EF2 tornadoes hit, injuring 26 people with the cost of 150 million dollars worth of damage? It was pretty bad.

Another place I drew was Rockford. Did you know that Rockford is the third largest city in Illinois and has a really cool professional indoor soccer team called the Rockford Rampage?

The third cool place I researched was Chicago. The cool thing about Chicago is that it is the largest city in Illinois with 2.8 million residents. It also has a really cool, huge McDonalds call The Rock and Roll McDonalds. Also Chicago is known for its deep-dish pizza.

The fourth place I drew was Joliet. Something really interesting is that the state prison is in Joliet and the TV show, Prison Break, is filmed in Joliet.

The final place I drew was Metropolis, actually known as Superman's hometown. The second weekend in June is the annual Superman celebration and it's one of a kind event dedicated to Metroplis's favorite son.
