The Illinois Constitution
by Patrick, Andrew, and Cory

The current Illinois Constitution was made official in 1970. Its amendments are very similar to the United States Constitution such as....

* Freedom of speech.

* If the country is at war the soldiers can't stay in your house without your permission.

* Even If you had the smallest crime you are allowed to use a jury for your trial.

* You also have the right to have guns and weapons.

* You can choose to practice the religion of your own choice.

The two Constitutions are very much the same but very different, too.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the site. (Especially our part!)

THE BIG ABE
by Gabe, Tommy, and Quinn

Do you know about Abraham Lincoln?

He was the 16th president. He did a great thing. He stopped slavery for America. That is a fantastic thing.  The sad thing is he was assassinated.

Lincoln was born February 12th, 1865.  He was in office for four years. Abe was a leader in the Civil War.

Lincoln was assassinated in a theater.  John Wilkes Booth walked up behind him and shot him. Then, Andrew Johnson, vice president, became president.
